History

Tradition with a fresh shine

Built between 1899 and 1900, the Waldstätterhof is one of the most traditional hotels in Lucerne. In 1923, the Gemeinnützige Frauenverein Luzern took over the building near the train station and opened the city's first alcohol-free and no-tipping hotel - a bold move with a pioneering social spirit.

Over the decades, the hotel has continued to develop. In 2007, the neighboring building at Zentralstrasse 8 was taken over and the hotel was significantly enlarged.

The hotel was extensively renovated between 2023 and 2024, with great attention to detail, modern rooms, stylish communal areas and a new highlight: our elegant hotel bar. Today, of course, we also serve alcoholic drinks - according to our guests' wishes.

The Waldstätterhof combines history with the present - in the heart of Lucerne, warmly managed and with modern facilities.
